Happiness list.
Things that are currently making me happy: 1. Finally being done with a big presentation for my Sino-US Relations class. 2. Splurging on a Hagen Daaz ice cream bar for a bedtime snack. 3. Papers that are fun to write, and friends who give me music like this Disney Study Mix to listen to as I work. 4. Exactly 48 hours until I’m meeting Jim at the Beijing airport! 5. Vanilla tea in my...

People, I am in China and already planning where I want to travel to next. I think I have a problem. What am I going to do when I’m supposed to be a normal person and live in America for more than a month at a time?! This traveling thing is tiring sometimes, but I really do love it. Where should I go next? Do you have a favorite place you’ve visited?

So far, yet sometimes so close.
Sometimes, I feel so far away, so isolated, from everyone back home. Which makes sense, because you know, I am in China. But there are other times when it almost feels like I’m still there. Case in point: My one friend is freaking out and telling me about how she thinks our other guy friend likes her, at the same time as that guy is chatting me and telling me about how he thinks this girl...

Pretty Good.
By Charles Osgood There once was a pretty good student Who sat in a pretty good class And was taught by a pretty good teacher Who always let pretty good pass. He wasn’t terrific at reading, He wasn’t a whiz-bang at math, But for him, education was leading Straight down a pretty good path. He didn’t find school too exciting, But he wanted to do pretty well, And he did have some trouble...

Your twenties are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.  Kyoko Escamilla

– Ides of March. Okay, I value a few more things in addition to loyalty, but loyalty is definitely one of the most important. I will do anything to help my friends, and I can’t stand people who are insincere or unreliable friends. One of my pet peeves.

Discovery of the day: For some reason, my fridge has begun freezing everything. This is really annoying because it’s been ruining like 90 percent of my food. But it froze my yogurt, but I was really hungry tonight so I still tried some. It was surprisingly delicious - sort of like a weird ice cream, but in a good weird way!

“I need to live in a land where people can spill!”
– Phoebe, in Season Two of Friends. But really Phoebe, you and me both hon. My land also needs lots of Tide To Go and other heavy duty stain removers. And excessive amounts of desserts, obviously. While we’re at it, a cleaning lady would be a good addition to this imaginary world too.
